Here are a few suggestions on how to design a good floor plan for your haunted house.
- Make sure that the guests only have one way they can go... If it's possible to go the wrong way, someone always will.
- Never have a group leave a room the same way they came in.
- Keep hallways narrow.
- Provide scares from every angle: front, side, and back. (Don't forget beneath, and above too.)
- Have places where no one jumps out so that it's not predictable.
- Use blind corners to your advantage. Even if there's nothing there, the guests will be nervous.
- Divide big rooms up into winding passageways.
- Don't let the guests see the next scene until they get there.
